Steam Railtours from Liverpool Lime Street Summer 2008
To mark this anniversary the Walker Art Gallery presents its Exhibition Art in the Age of Steam at the Walker Art Gallery. This art exhibition will include some of the great names of European and North American art including Frith, Manet, Monet, Van Gogh and Hopper. With over one hundred works including paintings, drawings, prints and photographs, covering a variety of themes, the exhibition will celebrate the power and impact of the railway on artists - from its embryonic beginnings in the 19th century through the golden age of rail to the 20th century and relevant exhibition would be a fantastic historical celebration for those admirers of steam era.
In association with the Railway Touring Company, a season of Steam Trains will leave Liverpool Lime Street, to Carlisle, over Settle and Carlisle Viaduct and to Holyhead via Warrington, Chester to Colwyn Bay, Llandudno, Conwy Bangor. Steam trains will start on 19th July, with a special train from Scarborough and the rest will start from Liverpool Lime Street and run through-out August. Family tickets are available as well as prices to stations along the route.
